As violence continues unabated in Borno State, the dreaded Boko Haram sect, on Saturday, 19th July, killed no fewer than 60 people at Gaidamgari village in Bama local government area of the state. Many others sustained gunshot wounds, while many houses, shops and vehicles were set ablaze in the attack which occurred at about10p.m. The insurgents were said to have attacked the town following the refusal of residents to allow their young males enlisted as members of the sect, Vanguard reports.
A source from Gaidamgari said, "On refusal of the community to allow their children, particularly young boys of between the ages of 15 to 20 to be recruited into the Boko Haram group, the terrorists mobilised and launched attacks on the village, killing over 60 people."

Confirming the story, security sources, however said, "only 29 people were killed with few residents sustaining injuries.” Most of the villagers who have been rendered homeless are now taking refuge in Bama town. Despite deployment of soldiers to Borno in the recent months, the states has been attacked almost on a daily basis. Last week Friday, July 18, gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram sect members, attacked Damboa, killing several people in the assault. Over the weekend, the deadly terrorist sect attacked a town in Borno state, killing more than 100 people and hoisting their black and white flags over the area.
Reports surfaced recently that the insurgents had taken over Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru Ngala road, where they allegedly mounted toll gates, collecting money and forcefully confiscating goods from motorists.
